One hungry cat arrived at the right place for a meal, and that simple choice turned into a brand-new beginning for her and her three precious kittens.

Earlier this month, a young stray cat wandered into a colony, desperately searching for food. She couldn’t have picked a better place, because a local animal rescuer who supports community cats spotted her immediately. The rescuer noticed her round belly and quickly stepped in to help, bringing her to Chatons Orphelins Montreal for safety and care. The cat was heavily pregnant, vulnerable, and had no place to call home — but everything was about to change for her.

“We welcomed her into our care and named her Minah,” shared Celine from Chatons Orphelins Montreal. “She was only about one year old. Despite her advanced pregnancy, she was extremely skinny and fragile. But right away, she showed her sweet personality and friendliness to everyone she met.”

Her rescuers prepared a cozy and quiet space where she could rest, along with plenty of nourishing food to help her regain strength. Minah quickly revealed her affectionate side — rubbing against her foster mom, pressing her tiny face into her hand, and soaking up every bit of love and comfort. She was clearly overjoyed to finally have a roof over her head and someone to care for her.

“She’s just a baby herself — sweet, gentle, and always craving human company. Her foster family adores her, and she thanks them by showing her belly with trust and love,” said the rescue team.
A few days later, Minah’s foster mom walked into the room and discovered a beautiful surprise: Minah had gone into labor in her teepee bed. Within just three hours, she safely delivered three tiny kittens, each weighing between 100 and 120 grams.

The three little girls started their lives in warmth and safety. Minah was instantly a devoted mother, nursing, grooming, and protecting them. “She bonded so strongly with her foster mom. Even during labor, she purred every time her foster mom helped with her babies,” the rescue shared. Despite her young age, Minah was proving to be a wonderful mom.

Her foster carer weighed the kittens three times a day to ensure steady growth. When the smallest kitten began losing weight, immediate action was taken — supplemental bottle feedings around the clock. Each time the little one was fed, Minah lovingly cleaned her face, as if thanking her foster mom for helping. Thanks to the intervention, the runt of the litter soon caught up and began thriving alongside her sisters.

Now, all three kittens are healthy, active, and steadily growing stronger. Minah, though still just a kitten herself, is thriving in her foster home. She adores her foster mom, often reaching out her paw as if wanting to hold hands. And no matter how much she enjoys human affection, at the faintest cry from her babies she immediately rushes back to them with love and devotion.

The three little munchkins will soon open their eyes and begin exploring their world. Meanwhile, Minah continues to enjoy the best of both worlds — love from her foster family and the joy of raising her kittens in safety. She arrived at the perfect place for help, and once her mothering days are behind her, she’ll get to be the center of attention she has always deserved.
