Heartwarming Québec Story: Family Discovers Abandoned Fur Bundle Was Actually a Kitten with the Spirit of a Big Cat

A family discovered a tiny bundle of fur outside their home, only to realize it was a fragile kitten with the spirit of a mighty panther. What started as a heartbreaking scene soon turned into a journey of survival and love.

Earlier this month, faint cries outside a family’s door led them to a palm-sized kitten, alone and vulnerable. They spotted his mother nearby and hoped she would return for him, so they left him there. But despite his desperate cries, she never came back. After waiting a full day, the family finally stepped in to save him.

They noticed his eyes were sealed shut and he was weak from neglect. Celine of Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an all-volunteer rescue, explained, “His mother must have abandoned him because he was sick. The family cared for him overnight, then drove an hour to bring him to us so he would have a chance to survive.”

At just three weeks old, the kitten, named Regliss, weighed only 227 grams—far below average. “You could feel his bones; it was clear he hadn’t eaten for a long time.” Yet his cries showed determination. He latched onto a bottle and fought for his life with the spirit of a little panther.

For the first time, Regliss slept safely with a full belly. Celine carried him everywhere, feeding him around the clock. Slowly, he gained weight, grew stronger, and replaced cries with soft purrs. Each day, he showed he was not ready to give up.

Once strong enough, Regliss got his first bath. Celine washed away flea dirt and wrapped him like a “purrito” in a warm towel. He then bonded deeply with his foster mom, often traveling in his own “cat-mobile” and snuggling with plush toys when he napped.

Marscha, the senior resident cat, also stepped in. Having cared for many kittens before, she gave Regliss the comfort and warmth of a mother. Soon, Regliss began gaining over 10 grams each day, eating with a hearty appetite, and hugging his foster mom’s hand after meals.

Though small in size, Regliss showed the spirit of a champion. With every belly rub and every meal, he grew healthier and more playful. By four weeks, he was curious, affectionate, and always nestled in his soft bed with his plush companions.

Thanks to the kindness of the family who found him and the love of his foster home, Regliss transformed from a fragile orphan into a thriving kitten. With Marscha’s guidance and Celine’s dedication, this once-forgotten kitten now carries the fearless heart of a house panther.

Though still tiny, Regliss has grown into a brave little soul who never naps without a plush friend by his side. His journey is proof that love, care, and compassion can turn the smallest life into the fiercest fighter.
