A family recently discovered a tiny ball of fur in front of their home, which turned out to be a kitten with the courage and spirit of a big cat. The little creature captured their hearts immediately with his desperate cries and fragile appearance.

Earlier this month, a family heard faint cries coming from outside their home. Following the sounds, they found a tiny bundle of fur by their front door. The kitten, no bigger than a palm, was alone and vulnerable. Thinking that perhaps his mother was nearby, they carefully searched the area and eventually spotted her. Hoping she would return, they left the kitten where he lay, but despite his insistent cries, the mother never came back.

After waiting for 24 hours with no sign of the mother cat, the family gently picked up the kitten and brought him inside. They immediately noticed that his eyes were crusted shut and he appeared weak and malnourished, clearly in need of urgent care. “His mother must have abandoned him because he was sick,” explained Celine from Chatons Orphelins Montreal, an all-volunteer rescue organization. She added that the family cared for him overnight and then drove an hour to bring him to their facility, giving him a real chance to survive.

At barely three weeks old, the kitten, named Regliss, weighed only 227 grams, much smaller than most kittens his age. His tiny frame revealed his ribs and delicate bones, indicating he hadn’t been fed for some time. Yet, despite his frailty, Regliss showed remarkable determination. From the very first moment, he refused to give up. He cried relentlessly until he was fed from a bottle, demonstrating the fierce survival spirit of a little panther. “He was hungry. He wanted to live,” Celine shared.

For the first time, Regliss experienced a sense of safety and comfort, sleeping with a full belly in a warm, loving environment. Celine bottle-fed him around the clock, carrying him everywhere to meet his constant needs. Gradually, he began gaining weight, his tiny legs grew stronger, and his cries softened into gentle purrs of contentment.

When he was strong enough, Celine gave Regliss a gentle bath, carefully removing the flea dirt hidden in his fur. Wrapped snugly in a warm towel, he quickly drifted off to sleep, cozy like a little “purrito.” He began to bond closely with his foster mom, traveling with her in his own cat-mobile. When napping, he always had a plush friend to cuddle with, giving him extra warmth and security.

Marscha, the resident senior cat, soon stepped in to offer guidance. Experienced in fostering many kittens, she seemed to instinctively know what Regliss needed. He snuggled into her soft fur, enjoying the warmth, comfort, and motherly reassurance she provided. Under her care, Regliss continued to grow stronger, gaining more than 10 grams each day thanks to regular bottle feedings.

With a strong appetite, Regliss now eats enthusiastically, making up for lost time. After each meal, he rolls onto his back, inviting belly rubs and holding onto his foster mom’s hand with his tiny paws, giving the appearance of a big, affectionate hug. Though small in size, his spirit is mighty, reflecting the soul of a miniature panther.

Now at four weeks old, Regliss is a lively, spirited kitten full of curiosity and energy. He loves sinking into his plush bed, melting into a soft puddle of fur as he drifts off to sleep. He remains close to his foster mom at all times and never naps without a plush friend by his side, showing the depth of his attachment and trust.

Thanks to the compassion of the family who found him, Regliss’ life has been transformed. With guidance from a caring senior cat and the devoted attention of his foster mom, the once-forgotten kitten is thriving and blossoming into a confident little cat. Though tiny in size, his fearless heart beats with the strength and courage of a true house panther.
