A cat named Biggie has been trying everything possible to get noticed after spending nine long months at the shelter. His journey shows how patience, love, and care can transform even the most nervous animals into affectionate companions.

Biggie, a young white-and-tabby cat, arrived at the Clifton Animal Shelter when his owner became ill and could no longer care for him. At barely a year old, he came with a big heart and an even bigger appetite. The noisy shelter environment was overwhelming at first. The strange smells, constant sounds, and life inside a cage made him nervous. But the staff and volunteers quickly discovered that food was the way to his heart, and slowly, he started showing courage and trust.

Despite his larger size, Biggie is still very much a playful kitten. He loves chasing wand toys, pouncing with energy, and showing off his zoomies around the shelter. After playtime, he turns into a cuddly love bug, always waiting for staff—especially Liz—to scoop him up in her arms. Liz explained that while he sometimes gets spooked, he is very food motivated and affectionate once he feels secure. Every day, he jumps into her arms the moment his cage door opens.

Biggie’s personality is larger than life. One moment he’s running like a tiger across the room, the next he’s flopped over, demanding belly rubs. He makes eye contact that melts hearts—especially if you happen to be opening a treat bag or a can of food. His transformation from a frightened shelter cat to a confident, curious companion has been a joy for the shelter team to witness. They know he will thrive even more in a loving home.

Biggie has also taken up “clerical duties” at the shelter. He supervises paperwork, patrols snack supplies, and occasionally naps while on the job. Staff lovingly call him their hardworking office assistant. Though he may look like a tough guy, he’s really all softness inside—mischievous, funny, and deeply affectionate. He has a calm side too, making him the perfect fit for a home where he can both play and relax.
