When Molly discovered that two orphaned kittens at the SPCA of Tompkins County needed a foster home, she didn’t think twice. She eagerly welcomed them, thrilled at the chance to care for bottle babies again after such a long time. Just hours later, the shelter reached out about another rescue — a young mother cat who had arrived without her kittens, her history completely unknown. This marked the beginning of an unexpected bond.
Delilah, the rescued mother cat, was barely more than a kitten herself. Frail and scrawny, she clearly needed love and care. Since she was producing milk, the shelter asked Molly to try introducing her to the tiny orphans to see if she might step in as their mother.
