Heartwarming Rescue in Washington: Orphaned Wildcat Cub Finds New Family Among Three Other Cubs

Four orphaned cougar cubs found solace and family in each other at In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue. Initially, three cubs were rescued after being spotted alone in the wild. Soon after, a fourth female cub, Malice, was found near a forest fire area and brought in. The cubs quickly bonded and became inseparable. Unable to be released due to low survival odds, they were given a forever home at the Texas sanctuary. Outlaw, Sage, Scarlett, and Malice now play, snuggle, and thrive together—safe, happy, and growing fast in their loving new home.

Three tiny orphaned cougar cubs were discovered wandering alone with no mother in sight. Washington’s Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) began monitoring the cubs through remote cameras after receiving a report about them. For several days, the team watched to see if their mother would return. When she didn’t, the department decided to step in and rescue the helpless cubs.

After rescuing them, WDFW reached out to find a suitable facility that could provide the care and nurturing these cubs desperately needed. That’s when they connected with In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue in Texas. Although the cause of their mother’s disappearance remains unknown, In-Sync immediately took in the cubs to ensure their survival and safety.

Just a few days later, rescuers were surprised when another orphaned cougar cub — a small female — was found near a forest fire area. She too had lost her mother and needed urgent help. In-Sync took her in and soon introduced her to the three rescued siblings, hoping they would accept her.

To everyone’s delight, the four cubs bonded almost instantly. They began to play, cuddle, and explore together as if they had always been a family. The rescue team quickly realized that the connection between them was something truly special — a sign of hope after tragedy.

After researching possible rehabilitation options, the team learned that re-releasing the cubs into the wild wasn’t ideal due to low survival rates for hand-raised cougars. Instead, In-Sync decided to give the four cubs a forever home at their sanctuary in Texas, where they could grow safely and happily.

Within a month, they will be moved into a large enclosure featuring a den area, grassy playground, toys, ramps, and platforms to help them develop strength and coordination — all while remaining together as one big family.

The three younger cubs — Outlaw, Sage, and Scarlett — quickly accepted their new big sister, Malice. They now spend their days playing, cuddling, and sleeping together. The sanctuary staff describe them as “inseparable, full of love, and growing stronger each day.”

According to In-Sync, “The kittens are all doing well — very happy, playful, and growing so fast.” Watching them thrive together has brought immense joy to everyone involved in their rescue journey.

Outlaw loves playing with his blanket, while Malice often joins in the fun. Their playful moments are heartwarming reminders of the second chance they’ve been given — a chance to live, love, and grow up together under the care of kind humans.
